Phloridzin:
Phloridzin (Phlorizin) is an anti-diabetic agent
that is found primarily in apple peels. Phloridzin
inhibits intestinal glucose uptake via the sodium
D-glucose co-transporter and similarly inhibits
renal glucose re-absorption. Correction of hyperglycemia
with Phloridzin has been shown to normalize the
effects of insulin on glucose metabolism in the
liver and other peripheral tissues such as muscle
and adipose tissue in diabetic rat models.¦Â-Cell
abnormalities were also completely corrected when
diabetic rats were treated with Phloridzin to
normalize plasma glucose levels. Obviously, based
on its effect on mRNA levels, phloridzin is a
genomeceutical.

Abstract
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a phenol fraction
which can be used as a cosmetic, a dietary care
agent or a nutraceutical agent and contains rich
dihydrochalcones (phloridzin and phloretin) obtained
from the fruits of a rosaceous plant, and to develop
a method for obtaining the fraction. SOLUTION:
The fraction obtained from the fruits of the rosaceous
plant is characterized by containing at least
20 wt. % of polyphenols containing phloridzin
in an amount of at least 10 wt. % based on the
total phenols, and the method for preparing the
fraction comprises starting from crushed apples,
carrying out one or more solid/liquid extractions,
drying the solid extract, and then extracting
the dried product with an organic solvent.

Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a tyrosinase-inhibitor usable
as a skin-beautifying agent for cosmetic and an
agent for preventing blackening and browning of
food, etc., by using 1,3,5-trihydroxybenzene derivative
as an active component. CONSTITUTION:The active
component of the objective tyrosinase-inhibitor
is the compound of formula I (R1 is H or glucose
residue; R2 is H or group of formula II ; at least
one of R1 groups is H but all of R1 and R2 groups
are not H at the same time), e.g. phlorin of formula
III, phloridzin of formula IV or phloretin of
formula V. These compounds have remarkable tyrosinase-
inhibiting activity comparable or superior to
that of known agent such as kojic acid and arbutin.
The amount of the compound is preferably about
0.5-1g per 100g of cosmetic in the case of using
as a skin-beautifying cosmetic or 1-2g per 100l
of solution in the case of using as a blackening
preventing agent for food preferably in the form
of an aqueous solution or an organic solvent solution.

Lutein
1.Function and Application
Lutein is a natural pigment of the carotenoid
family. It is widely found in nature, mainly in
vegetables and fruits. In the human body, Lutein
is found in tissues such as liver, pancreas,
ovaries, and testicles and in the macula, lens
and retina of the eye. Just like other
carotenoid, lutein acts as an antioxidant,

Zeaxanthin is less common in the human diet -
coming from certain orange and yellow fruits and
vegetables. Meso-zeaxanthin is not found in the
normal human diet, and is thought to originate
from lutein. The high concentrations and
